Understanding Symptoms Of Diabetes

For several people the diabetes symptoms may not seem really serious when they experience them firstly. The reality, a huge amounts of diabetics go undiagnosed. According to recent research it is estimated there are 17 million diabetic people in the United States alone, and in estimation 5.9 million diabetics never to be diagnosed with this life threatening disease.

Most diabetics may even show some sort of disbelief when they are diagnosed with diabetes. The diabetic symptoms can seem so minor that they don't see any different with their condition. Since the symptoms can look rather minor when they first start they can be assumed to other health problems. Unfortunately diabetes is a real serious disease and it is actually the number six deat caused by disease in the United States.

According to the information from American Diabetes Association, the most common diabetes symptoms include:

• Frequent urination that is coming from high glucose level which increases blood flow to our kidneys.
• Excessive thirst which is the results from dehydration from the increased urinary output.
• Extreme hunger because the glucose is unable to get into the body's cells caused by the insulin lack the body suffers from the energy deficit, causing hunger.
• Unusual weight loss. Our body can actually loses weight because it breaks down the proteins and fats to support the perceived energy deficit
• Increased fatigue. It is caused by the decrease in energy
• Irritability
• Blurry vision. It is caused by the increasing blood volume that causes a swelling of the eye lens.

It's rather easy to know why these symptoms might be mistaken for something other than diabetes. There are several daily conditions that can cause some of those symptoms. For instance the stress of everyday life can lead to fatigue or irritability and also depression which can also cause weight loss. Any number of minor illnesses like colds or the flu may also cause diabetes like symptoms.

When our diabetes gets progressively worse so will these symptoms. Another thing to keep in mind is that unlike symptoms associated with other illness in daily life these symptoms of diabetes will not just go away. If you feel any of those symptoms and they do not go away after sometimes, it is important to schedule a doctors appointment and discuss the symptoms with a physician.

The sooner diabetes is diagnosed the sooner preventative treatment can be undertaken. This is important because the more times it is not treated the more damage it can do to the body and its organ systems. While diabetes treatment will require some times and some efforts, you can fight this disease.
